abilities & skills
Connor is a human, pretty limited to human abilities. However he is the reincarnation of King Arthur, filtered through the years and the true wielder destined to have Excalibur. As such, under some currently suspect excuses, he's being trained in swordsmanship by a Templar Knight
VIDEO GAME CODER
Connor has a knack for codes though, he primarily uses it for video games but he can code phone apps, disassemble security codes and has awareness of limited hacking.
his eyebrows can say a million words -usually along the lines of 'please don't make me do this' and 'omg no'.
into the past
THE EARLY YEARS
Connor Trask was not planned. In any fashion. After Junior Prom, Lydia found out that she was pregnant, it was made all the more complicated because her boyfriend was graduating that year and they weren't especially sold on their pending long distance relationship. In the end, Lydia decided to go it by herself, bringing Connor to term, fully prepared to drop out of school and raise her son.
Lydia's mother had other ideas. While she'd been disappointed that her daughter had been this silly, she was supportive of her daughter's dreams and goals; Lydia was a smart girl, she had a potential future ahead of her, Monica Trask was not about to let that be cut short because her daughter and her boyfriend couldn't wrap it before they tapped it. Monica took on caring for Connor when he was born, Lydia throwing herself back into school as well as she could to graduate on time. In the end, it paid off, Lydia graduated in the top five of her year and had offers for several of her top picked colleges.
Because of Connor, she stayed close to Utah, but with Monica being Connor's primary caregiver, she felt less like a mother for the formative years, making their bond very complicated. It didn't really bother Connor for years to come, he was a laid back child, spending his days by his grandmother's side, playing with toys or watching Monica's stories, even if he didn't understand them.
School proved interesting, when Connor repeatedly got his mother and grandmother mixed up, because his grandmother was basically his mother. He was limited in the activities he took part in through class events, although his grandmother tried to get him to take part. Connor wasn't exceptionally outgoing, but very smart and chose to mostly keep to himself through out his early education.
When Connor was nine, Lydia met William Reed. It was Connor's first time having a father figure and it was ... complicated. Lydia took a more active role as a mom, which caused a few fights when Connor still went to his grandmother for things his mother was trying to get involved in. In the end, Connor attempted to adapt to his mother's wishes when it became clear that William was sticking around. Lydia and William were married the following year and the best part of it was the two week honeymoon William took Lydia on, because Connor got to stay with his grandmother again.
Almost ten-months later, Carter and Cameron were born. They were fine babies, as far as Connor could expect, they squawked a lot in his opinion but they were fun for cuddling when they were quiet. Lydia took leave from work when the twins were born, trying to divide her time up between the newborns, Connor assisted where he could being an eleven year old boy while pushing down the illogical jealousy.
By the time Connor started high school the twins were five, and Connor was far more able to relate to them. He still divided his time between helping his grandmother and his mother with the kids while she had returned to work. Excelling in school with minimal effort started to breed a level of disconnect for Connor, he could do the work with such little work that he started to get a little lazy about it, he took up football in a bid to keep himself from getting bored and helping with his siblings stopped him from really getting too bored. Connor took up video games, comic books and strangely, knitting to further keep him engaged.
School basically became a cake walk, Connor rarely had to attend class but he could still keep up with the course work, when Connor graduated he had a scholarship offer to three colleges. He wasn't going to take it, but Monica was so proud of him that he opted to accept a place at Seattle University in a Liberal Arts degree, mostly because Monica had just moved to Seattle to settle into a nursing home due to her early on set Alzheimer and diabetes.
College was... fine, really. Although he slept through a majority of his classes and spent more time visiting his grandmother than not. Tragically, within six months of moving to Seattle, Monica suffered a major stroke and died shortly afterwards. Connor attributed that to his leaving college before the end of the first year, although his mother asked him to reconsider. He'd already designed the video game that basically set him up for life with the rights retained for royalties while a moderate developer released the game on their label. Connor took a job testing and coding new games for the company.
His mom wanted him to move back to SLC to be closer to the family, but when he pointed out that he was earning more in Seattle than he would in Utah, it brought forth the discussion of Lydia, William and the twins moving to Seattle. When Connor was twenty-one he bought his mom a house for them all to move into, he lived with a sweet older woman named Debra who's mortgage he's already paid off while giving her rent to go into her savings. He spent a fair amount of time driving his kid siblings to and from work, earning his place as awesome brother, and making them like Seattle enough that Lydia rarely spoke of moving back to Utah.
It's been his life for the last ten years really. He rents a basement apartment near by the offices of the game company he works for, but he mostly works from home, specialising in shooter games to test and recode where needed.
While out and about one night, Connor ran into Nerida Manolas, at an arcade, playing skee-ball. It didn't strike him as too odd, and they ended up exchanging details. Connor eventually took Nerida up on meeting for a lesson in fencing. He wasn't sure if it was a ploy or something, but it did turn out that Nerida did mean exactly what she said. As a result, Connor's been meeting Nerida fairly regularly to brush up on his skills, mostly to make sure Debra stays safe.
⚔ Primarily raised by his grandmother at first, Connor was born while his mother was still in high school. It didn't really bother him, although there's an age gap between him and his siblings that made bonding complex.
⚔ Is a slacker, to the highest degree, he really lacks the motivation to do a lot of anything which tends to mean he does very, very little.
HIDDEN SMART ALEC
⚔ He's actually really smart, he tested very well in high school and got into college on a scholarship. He only actually took it because his grandmother was so proud.
⚔ Got three semesters through a Liberal Arts degree before dropping out. Even the easiest and most useless of degrees didn't agree with him at all.
WAR ZONE GAMING
⚔ Designed a first person, storyline based shooter game in his second semester, it was pretty well received by the guys in his dorm so Connor sold the finished design to a local video game developer. It made him a hell of a lot of money that he barely uses, but he took a job with the developers after dropping out of college.
⚔ Lives on hot pockets, energy drinks and easy meals, does not cook; his cooker/oven is more of an ornament than an appliance, he's had to replace his microwave twice in three years.
BIG BROTHER STYLIN'
⚔ He's not especially close to his siblings, more like an uncle than a brother most of the time, but the twins have both crashed at his place when they fall out with their parents. Connor can motivate himself to help them out because fuck it, he's their big brother.
NOT A GYM BRO
⚔ The extent of Connor's physical activity is the occasional run. He played football all through high school purely for something to do, he keeps up a little of the exercise but it's a hassle.
